THE CHANGING FOOD SECTOR

THE CHALLENGES OF TODAY, TOMORROW AND BEYOND

In the Fox Study, Fraunhofer ISI developed several future scenarios in cooperation with international experts and STAUFEN. What they all have in common is that the food industry will fundamentally change by 2035.

Even today, the food industry is facing major challenges:

Socio-political trends such as changing diets, questioning production and manufacturing methods, the demand for sustainability, and political decisions such as the CO2 tax.

In addition, individual farm-to-fork players face their own challenges: Retailers: new forms of distribution Producers: sourcing, trademarks, investments Growers: price pressure

In addition to these trend-setting topics, they must also focus on their own tasks from the present, e.g., increasing efficiency, shortage of skilled workers, digitalization.
